Nicki Minaj Super Bass’s shocking pink poultry neckpiece, designed by jewellery brand Onch Movement, has been slammed by style watchers and animal welfare groups, including People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The brand defines the necklace as a deep fried and extra crispy, pink fried chicken wing. It also says that the piece is made from 100% animal free material.
“The world of showbiz may be cut throat, but that’s no excuse for adorning oneself with the appendage of a tortured animal. We can’t imagine her fans being impressed by this display of disrespect for animals,” says Benazir Suraiya, PETA spokesperson.
“A publicity stunt or stupidity?,” read a comment on thyblackman.com, a style blog. Jewellery designer Alpana Gujral says, “It’s obvious for celebs to seek attention. But to show apathy to this extent is unacceptable.”
